PRISCILLA
Priscilla-Leigh is an on-going desert-drag project, where characters emerge as hyperdesert beings who act as gate keepers to the visitors who attempt to understand this seemingly barren land.
Priscilla, an obvious outsider, is found wandering past creosote and cacti, collecting clues from these ostentatious mythical beings and their javelina choir.
This project takes form as a series of interrelated video vignettes combining video, animation, text and song.
THE SANDER
If you could make me now
would you use all the best things you know?
Or would you add predators?
So you could find safety?
Would you let me break your rules?
So structures were breakable?
Would you add something sad?
So you knew what my shoulder felt like?
DESERT SCORES
#1
Make yourself as small as possible, walk along a spine to its tip and hang up your hat.
#2
Make yourself as large as possible. Trace the ridge-lines with your fingertips. Think of how much time you’ve saved compared to if you’d been walking.
#3
Greet each Saguaro as it greets you. See who can hold the pose the longest.
#4
Choreograph a dance with the first five Saguaros you meet.
#5 (Portable Puddles)
Fill a pan with water and take it with you. Place it on the ground every so often so you know what the desert looks like upside-down.
